David Rosin is very active as an educator and professional musician. He is currently in his first year teaching 5-12th grade orchestra in the East Lansing public schools, in East Lansing, Michigan. David is the co-founder and co-conductor of the Mid-Michigan Youth Orchestra. This is an 80 piece full orchestra made up of students from all over the Mid-Michigan area.
 
Prior to teaching in East Lansing, David spent seven years teaching in the Lansing Public Schools and Waverly Schools. His ensembles have received division I ratings at the District and State Levels. David's orchestras have presented clinics on string improvisation for two New Directions in Music Education Conferences at Michigan State University. Over the past four years, he has hosted district band and orchestra festivals and the Fall String clinics.
 

David has been a guest clinician for the Middle Level String Clinics, Michigan State University's String Education Day, and Oswego State University's Jazzfest. David often serves as an adjudicator for the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association.

Furthermore, David has served as the Vice-President of Orchestra Activities and Treasurer of District VIII. Currently, David is a finalist for the MSBOA state orchestra teacher of the year. In the summer of 2004, David performed and taught as a faculty member at SUNY Oswego State University in New York. David holds both a BA and a MA in Music Education from Michigan State University.

When he is not teaching, David keeps busy working as a freelance double bassist. He has performed all over the Mid-West and in Australia. In 1997, he toured Australia with the Andrew Speight quartet. While in Australia, the quartet recorded a CD for the Australian Broadcasting Company. The recording was released in 1998, and it won the Australian Recoding Industry Award (ARIA) for Best Jazz Album.

On the jazz scene, David has performed concerts with many top jazz artists including; Wycliffe Gordon, Barry Harris, Bobby Watson, Charles McPherson, Wes Anderson, Victor Goins, Claudio Roditi, Kareem Riggins, and Arron Goldberg. He performs regularly with Michigan jazz greats including Marcus Belgrave, Tad Weed, Gary Schunk, Rick Roe, Terry Lower, Donald Walden, Rob Smith, and Randy Gelispie. David holds the bass chair for the Fred Knapp Trio, Ray's Café' Americana, and the String Doctors.

David's other performances include three concerts with the legendary Chuck Berry. He has also played for traveling Broadway shows at the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts in East Lansing, Michigan. These include: "Beauty and the Beast," "Ragtime," Barry Manilow's "Copacabana." "Titanic," "South Pacific," "Kiss Me Kate," and Julie Andrew's "The Boyfriend."

David's orchestral experience includes three years as a section player in the Midland Symphony Orchestra. Currently, he is a substitute member of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and the Lansing Symphony Big Band.

He can be heard on the following recordings: Andrew Speight's Australian release "Andrew Speight Quartet;" the U.S. release "Speight;"  Ray Kamalays "Meet Me Where They Play the Blues;" with the Fred Knapp trio "Gershwin, Songbook Series I;" "Cole Porter, Songbook Series II;" and "More Happy Jazz.
